Parochial Church Council

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) exists to help and support the Rector and Churchwardens in running the Church, and is legally accountable for the annual Parish report. Members include the clergy, readers, churchwardens, parish Synod representatives, plus members elected at the annual Parish Meeting. The PCC meets every 2 or 3 months, with a small standing committee (comprising rector and PCC officers) dealing with minor or routine matters between meetings.

Youth Work Team

South Cheltenham welcomes our new Youth Work Team

Sarah Powell will head up the team and Tom Elliott will be with us about 1/3 of a week while he studies for a degree in youth work at Bristol. Please pray for them, and for the Youth Work Management Committee as we begin this new phase of our ministry to young people.

Sarah introduces herself:

My name is Sarah Powell. I grew up in the Midlands, and intended to study art before feeling that I was called to work with young people.  I have been working in Minchinhampton near Stroud as a youth and children's worker for the past 3 years, but I am really excited to get the opportunity to focus on work with those at Secondary school.  In my spare time I am learning to dance salsa, and have been attending classes on and off for about two years. I am also just beginning to play the electric guitar, and hope to take some exam grades soon.

And so does Tom:

Hello!  I am Tom.  I'm 18, from Painswick.  My home church is "The Salvation Army" in Gloucester.  In my spare time I enjoy Ventriloquism, Illusions and Comedy to present a gospel message.  I have used all of these hobbies within the youth and family work at my own church and many others.

I'm planning to start a degree course titled "Youth and community work and applied theology" in September this year.  For the course, I need a placement, which will be in South Cheltenham.  Alongside Sarah I shall be working with the youth here and aiming to bring them closer to Christ.

I'm really excited about working here and am looking forward to meeting more of you as the time goes by!
