Quiz Night 2004

Saturday 9th October saw members of St Peter's Leckhampton and their family and friends testing their general knowledge in a quiz to raise funds for Christian Aid.

Joan Sampson, Cheltenham organiser for Christian Aid kindly stood as question master for the evening. Fair Trade wine was sampled and Pringles were nibbled as the teams racked their brains to answer such questions as:

Which country makes Panama Hats?
The word "hepatic" refers to which organ in the body?
What is Fat Boy Slim's real name?
Starting with the longest, put these musical notes in order
According to their time value: minim, quaver, crotchet, semi-breve.

Pat and David Long and Helen Yates were the brain boxes for the evening - was it Pat's secret liking for the Simpsons that helped them make it? The team with the lowest score were awarded the traditional wooden spoon.

An enjoyable sociable evening with a conscience that raised £121.60 for Christian Aid. Many thanks to all who took part and contributed. Start swotting for next year!!!

[P.S the answers: 1. Ecuador, 2. Liver, 3. Norman Cook (special bonus point if you said Quentin), 4. semi-breve, minim, crotchet, quaver]

Sara and Brad Coates

I had a great time, a good laugh and learnt lots of things!  Thanks Sara and Brad!  I hope this becomes an annual event. Come along next time for a good evening with friends...and to gain a bit of knowledge!
