Jane has written with her latest news (see below).
Jane writes of her success with learning Urdu, where she has now passed the 'Third Progress Evaluation', and of being educated into the differences between Pakistan and Western society (for example hospitality and preserving honour take precedence over punctuality and honesty). She has been in Lahore since 31st August and has accepted an offer from the Bishop of a small flat in the Diocesan compound, hoping to move in during October. Meanwhile she has applied to have her tourist visa extended, since there has been no word on her long-term visa. She has started work both at the Bishop Rocky Chapel (also in the Diocesan compound) and at United Christian Hospital; both seem to be going well.
Jane gives thanks in particular for:
· A good time and profitable learning at Language School
· A warm welcome and new sources of friendship and support in Lahore
· An encouraging start to my work
She would still welcome our thoughts and prayers for:
· Granting of the long-term visa
· The move into the diocesan flat and that it may be a happy place to live
· The Bishop Rockey Chapel congregation, and my fellow-pastors Evelyn and Naeem
as I get to know them better,
· The United Christian Hospital - that we may discern God's will for its future
together.
