Just
a slight change really, so please go on putting loose change (or the odd £20
note) into your cottage-shaped moneybox. When
you are ready – and there’s no need to wait until the box is full – please
count the amount into a small bag and give it to Thelma Martin, who is a choir
member, or to a churchwarden or the treasurer if you can’t find her.
Don’t forget to put your name, the box number and a note of the amount
in the bag, using a completed Gift Aid envelope from the end of your pew if you
are a taxpayer. By giving Thelma the
bag you will have the joy of keeping the box and filling it again and again and
again …
If
you haven’t yet managed to pick up a box, it’s because their popularity had
made them scarce, but some more have now been made and are available at the back
of the church. Please put your name
beside one of the numbers on the list and take the box which has that number on
the bottom.

Thanks to the Auction of
Promises, we have been able to share some interesting and fun experiences!
You may have seen in the
February magazine a photograph of the tea party “A la Ritz” that we hosted
at the beginning of January, when we welcomed six members of the congregation to
our home for tea. David and I
dressed up to play the part of waiter and waitress; several varieties of tea
were offered; sandwiches, homemade scones, and a variety of homemade cakes and
biscuits were served, to the background of some gentle chamber music.
Thank you to our guests for entering into the spirit of the afternoon,
and for the “staff gratuities” which went to the Cottages Fund.
In March and April, David had
the fun of teaching computer skills. He
hopes, in particular, that the audience enjoyed the PowerPoint presentation
subsequently given by one well-travelled member of St Peter’s congregation.
And in January and March, I have been fortunate enough to
have two drawing lessons from Helen Shill. It
has been a delight (if rather cold in January) to sit in her beautiful garden on
Leckhampton Hill, with its stunning views, and to be gently helped to “see”
God’s created world in a different way and to begin to capture it in pencil
drawings. Thank you to Helen for
offering your skills in this way, and for your patient and careful teaching –
I hope others will also benefit from her considerable talents.
