Christmas 2003

Christmas Music

A very enjoyable evening of Christmas music was presented by the Silurian Consort at St Peter’s on 11th December. The two directors Neil Fortin and John Wilderspin shared the conducting and accompaniment. The composers ranged from Palestrina to John Rutter. A performance of The Magnificat by Pergolesi had a variety of movements from brisk and measured choruses to lovely duets for both bass and tenor and alto and soprano voices. The carols were sung with clear diction and a joyful sense of rhythm. Audience participation in familiar carols added to the pleasure of the evening.
