Because of changed personal circumstances the Director of Music, John Clift, has resigned and so the church requires a new Director of Music. The post will be vacant at the end of February.

John has been Director of Music for a little over a year, but the previous occupant was with us for 8 years. Music has been successfully developed at St Peter's, and the talents of the existing 4 part choir of around 25 members, which includes a thriving children's section, has been nurtured and developed.

We look forward to employing somebody who can carry the work further and encourage people in both choir and congregation to develop their musical gifts for the enhancement of our modern catholic liturgy.

Different musical settings are used in the weekly Eucharist and the Hymn Book is "Common Praise". Choral Evensong (BCP) takes place once a month and we are willing to explore further development. There are a small number of additional services on weekday Festivals. The choir has a good repertoire of anthems and service settings.

At present the choir rehearses on Friday evenings and we would look to establish a practice for the younger members before the full practice.

Five or six times a year the Eucharist is 'All Age' and is musically led by a small orchestra conducted by a member of the congregation (the choir remaining under the control of the Director of Music). We would encourage the continuation and development of this form of worship.

We welcome informal enquiries and Applications in the form of a letter (with CV) in writing or by e-mail by and should be sent to
