| The Rock Group is St. Peter’s Youth Group and caters
for any secondary school children between the ages of 11 and 16 who
regularly attend church. We usually meet on Sunday evenings between
7.15 p.m. and 9 p.m. during term times. Whilst the Rock Group is primarily aimed at children who attend St. Peter’s we welcome children who attend other churches to join. All members are welcome to join in with the rest of the Rock Group when we take part in any services at St. Peter’s or other organised activities. We engage in a wide variety of activities, some fun based and some more spiritual and learning centred and we have taken opportunities to take a visible part in services. We pray together at appropriate times. |
We hold indoor mini-tournaments, quiz nights, often hilarious
drama games, board games, table tennis, ten pin bowling/skittles trips, pancakes
and pancake games at Easter, a long spring walk, musical evenings and pizza
meals (both in and out).
We have some very interesting external visiting speakers – for example, a
journalist from the Baptist Times came and spoke about the HIV Crisis in
Northern Thailand and its impact on local tribes and we have had talks on
Christianity in Tamil Nadu and sampled eating Tamil Nadu food ‘local style’,
imagine eating curry and rice with your fingers only!
The Rock Group devises, prepares and presents plays during services such as Christ the King and Harvest Festival and leads the congregation in a walk of faith and planting the cross on Leckhampton Hill on Good Friday.
We also raise fund for various charities and, sometimes, have a weekend away at a Youth Hostel on the Coast.
Adults: Do you have an interesting story to tell? Come along and be one of our Guest Speakers.
If you know anyone who would like to join us, please contact Sarah Powell or Tom Elliott.
