Cheltenham Area School Prayer Network

Cheltenham Area School Prayer Network Meeting October 2009

The annual service of the Prayer Network for Leckhampton C. E. Primary School took place at St. Peter’s Church on 11th October. This year, the service was put together and led by parents who are part of this group which meets regularly to hold the school in prayer. The service included hymns, readings and a time for spoken and quiet prayer and reflection. Mr. Gardner spoke about his life as the headteacher of a Church School, drawing on events in his life which have shaped him, his feeling of humility on his appointment, his faith and trust in God which has sustained him, and giving thanks for all the blessings which have come to the school over the years.

As a visual focus for our reflections, we used two stained glass panels which Jacqui Hyde has presented to the school, and some items which Mr Gardner used to illustrate his talk; a lump of unworked clay, a clay animal made by a child at school and pictures of the new school buildings and of school events and achievements over the past year.

This service, and the quiet work of the prayer network through the meetings and newsletters during the year, provides a very much appreciated opportunity for parents, staff, governors and all involved with Leckhampton School, to pray for the life of the school. If you would like more information about the school prayer network, please contact me.
