Leckhampton C. E. Primary School News January 2006

As the new term gets under way, the School is preparing for the next building project. The new building (Phase 4) comprises a large multi-purpose room which will improve facilities for Art and Design and Technology, will prepare the way for after-school care on the school site and provide facilities for the Friends of the School. The same project will improve the Key Stage 2 children's toilets, and create more storage space including better stores for the caretaker and cleaners to use. It will also provide a new and better IT server room and store, which we need to cope with the increased provision of computers and related equipment in the school. The project will involve refurbishment within the existing building and the building of an extension, which will be sited behind the car park. Access will be via the school and via a new external door.

Planning approval has been granted and the builders will start work on the site on 6th February 2006. The work should be completed by the start of the School summer holiday in July. The work will be carried out by Snape Construction Ltd. The overall cost of the project will be £322,000. All in all, this project will significantly improve the school's accommodation.

As has become a tradition, the Friends of the School started the New Year with the ever-popular Beetle Drive. I understand this was to be the 19th at which Mr. Gardner has presided!
