Leckhampton C. E. Primary School News May 2010
On Saturday, 24th April the Junior Choir took
part in a very special concert at
Cheltenham
Town Hall
. The Cheltenham Choral Society, the Tewkesbury Town Band, four very talented
soloists, the Leckhampton Choir, the Charlton Kings Junior School Choir and the
Beauregard Youth Choir all came together to present
a very varied selection of music, culminating in a premiere performance
of Ian Higginson’s ‘Shades of Jazz’, a piece sung in Latin. It was amazing
to see how the different ensembles worked together to create the performance,
and a very exciting experience for the children to take part in a premiere at
the Town Hall. The children all sang beautifully. Many thanks to Miss Hartley
for working with the choir, who had been rehearsing for months, and to all the
helpers.
Many of the children took part in the Festival of
Performing Arts, in the choirs, the recorder ensembles and in numerous poetry
and prose reading classes, as well as many individual music and dance entries.
All the children had worked very hard to prepare their entries and many medals
were won. Thanks are due to the
teachers and staff who help the children at school and to all the parents who
support their hard work.
We are just preparing for all the exciting activities and
events of the summer, now the Year 6 SATs are safely out of the way.
