It doesn’t seem five minutes since we were last enjoying the company of Janice Keen and Paddy Grimshaw at our annual social evening but we were reminded that it was two years ago when Janice and Paddy first entertained us with a selection of amusing poetry and verse. This year was as entertaining and diverse as ever with poems ranging from diets, exercise, children, the environment, fund raising – not forgetting a poem by Pam Ayres on the subject of husbands!
Following the entertainment, a cheese and wine supper was provided by the Christians at Work co-ordinating group consisting of Roy Crompton, David Long, Anne Webber, Jackie Dunlop and Mary Beckford. Thank you to David Webber who assisted with the fetching and carrying and with the drinks and to Brian Dunlop who assisted with the washing up!
As a member of the co-ordinating group I would like especially to thank Roy, who heads the co-ordinating group, for all the work he does during the year in arranging the guest speakers and his contributions to the parish magazine and weekly newsletter.
