Christians at Work - October 2007

Revd Anne Dowdeswell: "Red tape and good intentions".

The next meeting will be on Monday 1 October at 20.00 in the Glebe Cottages* when the speaker will be our Assistant Priest, Revd Anne Dowdeswell on "Red tape and good intentions".

Whilst training part-time for ministry, Anne worked for 5 years as a Partnership Officer with the Herefordshire Partnership: the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) for Herefordshire.

She says:
"The what? Well, it's a partnership of the Council, the police, the Primary Care Trust and service providers with local groups and organisations. And the role of the partnership? To get everyone singing from the same hymnbook - although we would probably settle for getting the choir to all face in the same direction!

It sounds like a quango - it probably looks like a quango too - but if you can wade through the acronyms and the bizarre language, you will usually find a group of people who are really trying to make a difference to their local community, whilst battling with the plans and processes of 16 different statutory organisations and national government. Red tape and good intentions."

Intriguing….it should have whetted your appetite. So come along and hear Anne's insights.
ALL warmly welcome as always.
