Christians at Work - July 2007

Philip Tory: Mission Aviation Fellowship - Giving Wings to the Gospel.

Phillip Tory gave an interesting talk about the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) to the Christians at Work group in July.
MAF was formed after World War 2 and is a Christian organisation, flying in help and support to some of the most remote places in the world. Highly skilled pilots using small light planes have to land on very rudimentary landing strips, bringing supplies to those places where roads do not exist. Currently MAF operates in 40 different countries and has more destinations than any other commercial airline. All the personnel, pilots and ground crew, are committed Christians and often combine their technical skills with evangelism.

Although MAF charges commercial rates on a sliding scale to the organisations that use it, these being mainly aid agencies, it is also dependent on any contributions made.

In addition to money, MAF also relies on prayerful support from Christians around the world. As their work is dangerous and they are usually the first to arrive in disaster areas bringing vital aid, personnel and medical supplies, MAF deserves to be remembered in our prayers.
More information on MAF can be found on their web-site:www.maf-uk.org or by writing to: Mission Aviation Fellowship, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2TN.
