"A Cheesetastic Evening of Poetry and Rind!"
It was Christians at Work in the Cottages,
An evening of poetry and rind.
There were lots of various poems,
And cheeses of several kinds.
The readings were given by Janice.
You know, the one who is Keen.
Along with her sidekick, Paddy.
Paddy Grimshaw, I mean!
The poems were all based on colours.
They called it 'Out of the Blue'
Every imaginable colour,
And every imaginable hue.
They based it all on the rainbow.
Red, orange, yellow, and green
Blue, indigo, violet and purple
And several shades in between.
The audience really were spellbound
It really was quite a wheeze.
And when they had finished reciting
It was certainly time for the cheese.
There was white stilton, cheddar and Roquefort
Blue stilton, vignotte and brie
There was butter and plenty of crackers
And red and white wine flowing free.
And when we had finished partaking
Of poetry, cheeses and wine
We remembered that God had provided it all
And we thanked him for such a good time.
Thanks are due to Janice Keen and Paddy Grimshaw who provided a really
entertaining evening, and to Bob McNally, David Long, Mary Beckford and Iain
Hime who provided the different cheeses and wine for what has now become an
annual Christians at Work New Year social.
